Yves was born at the “Groenestein” riding school in Utrecht, Netherlands. Literally born among horses, he began his extensive equestrian experience.
From the age of 16 until he was 40, he worked for one of the best equestrian companies. During those 24 years, Yves gained a lot of valuable experience; he was present at European championships, world championships, and other international equestrian events around the world. Yves has many contacts in the equestrian world and a wealth of experience with surfaces.
In 2013, Yves started his own company, “Verheyden Rentals and Maintenance.” From that moment, other companies began hiring him to level and maintain surfaces and to build and outfit stands at trade fairs, both nationally and internationally.
Six years later, in 2019, Yves decided to take it to the next level and focus on the one thing he truly loves: surfaces. Together with Jesper Romp, he started a new company: Verheyden & Romp Equestrian Footings BV!
Jesper began his pony career at the age of 7. Due to his willingness and elegant riding style, he became very successful at a young age. At 15, he participated in his first European Championship with Van Schijndels Kris in Jardy (France) and won the silver team medal. After this, Jesper went to the Schröder brothers (BWG stables) in Tubbergen to gain more international experience. He received excellent guidance and had a very successful time there!
In 2016, Jesper joined his brother Ruben at the Margeretha Hoeve and was trained there by his father Bert. In 2017, Jesper started his own business to ride young horses at home.
Nowadays, he is fully dedicated to the construction and maintenance of equestrian surfaces. With his experience as an equestrian athlete, Jesper knows how important a good foundation is. Together with Yves Verheyden, he runs V&R Equestrian Footings BV.
